I think that could be counted under low key photography. An very dramatic looking picture. She is a beautiful dog. Your photo dos her beauty justice. In my opinion the low shadow light with the few sun spot highlights as the dark background are an ideal choice. Best luck for the contest.

Maia is indeed a beautiful dog. Love the dark bg, the highlight on the eyes all so well focused and framed. I don't think I would want to meet Maia in a dark or daylight location unless invited as I am sure she was a great guard dog.

This is a brilliant photo. I love how the light sculpts the face Hard to do for most. Photo is excelleny in composition, contrast, focus and color.

Chit, this is good. It is so difficult to photograph a black dog in a dark situation, you pulled it off.
She is lit so well with the spattering of highlights on her head and snout, you just lost a little definition on her right ear but for god sake, it is not an issue. Her red collar just jazzes it up a bit, good contrast work.
Next is the freaking halo in the back ground is what makes everything pull together, excellent photography.

A lovely capture of one of my favorite breeds. She is a bit awkward looking and the person who cropped her ears did not do her much of a favor as it is quite blunt. An unusual sight in europe these days at the practice is now outlawed in most places I believe. I like your lighting. By highlighting her face only it looks like a painting with her body fading out. I like the darkness...I tend to prefer my photos dark to a fault! Great shot!
