Maia is indeed a lovely dog and one I would not want to meet in a dark alley at night. You have captured the watch dog personality and the eyes are clear. It is very hard to photograph a black animal but you have done a very good job here.

Well once again I would have awarded a 6 if I could. This is a stunning pet protrait. Maia's expression is great and I love the eye contact. Your editing has further enhanced this super image and I wish you well in the contest - looks like a winner to me!

what a fantastic photo and dog. highlighting the background to just accentuate the dog was a wise choice. Beautiful dog, but not one I'd like to meet in the dark LOL

A beautiful dog with such character (if that is the correct word) in those eyes. I agree with you that the dark background works very well against the black of the dog's coat. The main features, eyes, nose and mouth, all draw the reviewer immediately to the face. The collar adds a touch of colour giving the image a lift. Beautifully framed, good focus and great subject.
