I can see why it was your mothers favorite. This is one of my favorites out of your work too. I love the natural earthy tones. The picture emits a sense of peace and tranquility to me. I like the smooth light water reflecting the light in the sky.
The bent over tree looks like it has lived through many storms and survived by being flexible and bending with the wind. I see a nice parable and lesson in the painting. ;-)
The storm looks like it is over but the tree still teaches us to be flexible and not too rigid.

This is my favorite of all of your paintings. I love the style of your sky. The landscaping is so colorful and rich earth tones. I like your style of tree placement the whole scene seems to be slanted and your trees flow with that concept. Very nice to view. I can see why this was your mother's favorite.
