Impressive work on the scent of this rose. The smoke is a very effective element, and the lighting and detail are excellent. Visually very appealing. Very good rendering. A pleasure to view!

Beautiful, absolutely inspirational. It made me think of the love I have for my muse. Every time I see a rose by Tom McGovern

Whenever I think of a rose
Images of you float through my mind
Angeliaâ??what a great and wonderful name for a saint
--I place all the worldâ??s flowers at youâ??re beautiful and treasured feet
I place my committed and humbly heart there too
All for youâ?¦ my dearest and beloved
The tears I cry today, the fighting spirit in my soul and every thought are but a sprinkle of rain that floods the earth
O, how my heart loves and adore you so

Beautiful capture and great shot for the contest with a very descriptive title.
Fantastic focus on the rose which brings out masses amount of detail. Beautiful range of colours with great lighting. Smoke and reflection add great atmosphere. Nice touch with the drops of water. Well planned and a great technique, camera settings look good. Well done and good luck in the contest. Bill

Tears of a rose placed in the darkness by no choice or fault of it's own. The beauty and dignity of that rose still existing, waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated once again in a very different light. Your efforts in this experiment have turned to accomplishments for you and redemption for the rose. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not a flower guy, but this is beautifully unique. Lighting is peaceful, as is the wafting scent. Nicely set up and captured!

What a dramatic shot. Initial impact is good. Creative composition with the reflection, the rose and the smokey wisps in the background. Nice touch of interest with the 'raindrops' on the flower.

What a super idea, very cleverly though out and produced.

I love everything about it, the light is super, love the reflections, but I really love that smoke giving the idea of the flowers scent!

The rose itself is fantastic as is the lighting and the subtle reflection but really don't like this smoke coming off of it. Much too much of it and it is too obvious, needs to be MUCH more subtle than that in my opinion. Beautiful lighting on the rose and it is super sharp.

Thank you very much for the lovely review, and as usual I disagree

Well Annie I'm sure you like to smell nice too but would you want to walk round with the smell coming off you looking like that?
reply by the author on 02-Nov-2012
Of course not, but with art I think it is always room for exaggerations. Why is it that everything has to be so realistic ? I know a scent is invisible, but I wanted to visualize it. Think I did a good job as well. LOL
reply by MGTF Blue on 02-Nov-2012
Like I said though it ought to be more subtle in my opinion, it looks more like it is on fire to me rather than an aroma.
    Very often less is more.

I have no problems seeing your point, but since I am satisfied with it the way it is, I suppose we just havt to agree to disagree. I always like having a discussion, and I also like very much to receive other members opinions. Some times I even agree. I will bear in mind what you have said, and next time I make a similar image, perhaps I will go for a more faint look, or at least try it out.
