Ah, we have these retail beacons in Dubai as well: huge public Christmas trees festooned with lights and multi-colored tinsel. Very cheerful, and the Emirati locals love them! Meanwhile in Canada, town councils have been known to ban Christmas trees for fear of offending non-Christian community members. So silly!
