â??And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more â?? we had no awareness of the real situation....â?? â?? Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

Dark subject. Lovely painting!

ANOTHER GREAT ABSTRACT TELLING A STORY. A LOT OF MEANING WHEN A STORY MAKES A PAINTING, I THINK ITS AMAZING, I LIKE IT A LOT.

The soft gentle coloring of this piece caught my eye and pulled me in making the experience oxymoronic as once in, I realized what the piece was saying. It was then that the gentle colors gave way to the harsh, brutal reality of your words and I could see the painting's meaning. Gentle colors and lines turned into strong lines and harsh coloring. The more I look at the piece the more I can feel the realuty of the horrific experiences portrayed here. Excellent reporting. Very open and brave. Thank you for sharing.

experienced by tens of thousands and thousands of our mothers. For years my own mother spoke only at night time, endlessly, endlessly of it. Thank you

I truly love the symbolism behind this lovely work of art. It feels as though this person is stuck within a reality that is manifested within a dimension of lost truth. I got a dark feel from this piece. The emotion you used surely shows throw the energy it radiates. Thank you for sharing.

well, symbolism? I took the barracks from my own childhood in camps and the story is real, true, many times over, told me by my mother and repeated often in books. so there is no Symbolism, only reality--Thank you
