you have 'killed two birds with one stone' as the old idiom states. the fur trade is completely disgusting and right now there is s big scandal in england to about a supermarket selling horse meat. i guess they are not breaking the 'trade description act', if the packet simply has 'burgers' or 'meatballs' written on them. i think this is one of your best pictures and many associate you with fun images, hot women, fantasy or rock star work but this rivals that classic death camp drawing. a six star all day long!

Wow ur the 1st who has reference to the death camp pic that I did. I was really worried that would offend a bunch of folks here but surprisingly not one pissed off person..im losing my touch..evil grin. Thanks bro for the superb review

You know people hear about this all the time, but perhaps a picture of it is worth a million words. Just look at the fear in the little seals eyes, and the blood in the snow behind him tells you what is going to happen. Great message, nice colors, and done wonderfully.

This makes really uncomfortable viewing and so you did your job really well. I have no idea how these people can inflict such cruelty to make a profit. We have a big uproar here in England at the moment - a lot of our major supermarkets have been selling horsemeat in products and passing it off as beef. There has been a horse slaughterhouse uncovered in England with appalling conditions for the poor ponies executions. People have been breeding horses just for meat it seems. Just terrible.

Very potent image of unnecessary cruelty. Presentation and composition are first class for this image and subject. You show amazing skill with a pen in getting across emotion and detail. Extremely well done and good luck in the contest. Bill

Bill since I was a child my idol has always been Norman Rockwell.. He had the natural ability to capture the emotions and special moments in life with rich color. What else is encouraging he wasnt recognized till 50. Who says life is over at 50plus.. Me I think ill be an artist when I grow up...wink. Thanls for the great review

No, it is not extreme, I have seen this on films not once and I find it dreadful, with all the cotton we can grow and all the wool we can get from sheep- why.. great rendering, keep it up. Artists are supposed to take part in social comment, not just be decorators! The stark colours give weight to the argument-

good job you don't live in England, you might pay heavily for that little talent- our democracy is a none democracy, as labour call it, a soft dictatorship- in a hothouse!

This drawing has much meaning to me. I like the way you have the young seals eyes looking at it's killer. I agree with you about animal skins. They were necessary for warmth before there were great synthetics to replace them. Well done. Sam

Very sad drawing. I've seen TV shows where they club these little babies. So heartless. Now if an adult seal or even a baby gets eaten by another animal, I consider that nature taking it's course. It's still sad if it's a baby but life goes on. Thank you for the story and for posting this drawing. (Speaking of babies, if you have time, check out my Big Baby painting and let me know what you think. Jan

Nice work!
Your notes are very interesting. The people that need to know these things will never see your notes. I would never eat that stuff anyhow.
I hate to see this happen. The very idea makes me sick! I would love to see and photograph one of these pups. Thanks for putting the word out!
