This is a beautiful piece! The colors are so Wonderful. The reds of the reflections on the water pick up the subtle reds of the heron beautifully. The whole background of water and reflection gives the impression of a painting. Wonderful subject and angle - great composition. The focus and reflections just give this a remarkably painted look. Just lovely! Thank you for the beauty.

The reflection makes the photo. Well, along with the colors and the heron. :) Love the composition - placement of the heron and the log. The dark reds are great background colors. Great camera technique. Great photo!

Yes, love the reflections of color and the heron. Very good focus, nice frame and low light exposure as the sun is setting. A super time for water shots. Like it very much.

This is a really neat picture almost like an impressionist painting. The water reflecting the colors is one of those great moments that happen rarely when everything comes together at the right time. Beautiful composition, very nice focus allowing us to see all the details and yet have this great quality on the water. Perfect reflection.

We do like it a lot and I like it a lot not only for the reflection which is placed in the classic photographic grid placement that we all studied back in Photography class 101 but also for the colour palette.
The colours make it painterly and deepens the story of a fall scene. YOu have kept it simple following the KISS principle and that has given your image great initial visual impact. The submerged log to the right of the bird with perfect reflection is also adding to the image's strength and helps to provide symmetry.
YOu have cropped it with consideration and it works well with good negative space all around.
Technical strength shows deft handling of in camera and composition gives us an esthetic magical feel.
I entered that contest too...and I think i just lost....gulp.
