Sailing into the Light

I would have reviewed this yesterday, but I did not have a six to give. I am simply drawn in by the almost transcendent quality of it. The murkiness and the turmoil on the right convey the "storm & toil" of your notes. While the green of growth & regeneration'. But what appeals most, is the clear path of light in the middle, with the saffron hued sails on it. The saffron robe of a renunciate in the east; a sincere seeker of light. I say sincere because you get rogues and scoundrels fomenting hatred & grief in the name of "religion",hiding under it. The clear path in the middle also conveys the idea of that everything exists in opposites. With evil comes being good. But a seeker of light treads a path detached from those. He/she abides in 'being', not caught in duality. The "middle path".

Until I read your notes, I wanted to rotate the painting 90ยบ CW. Now I understand your message. Beautiful insight. Love the colors.

Good luck in contest...

Nice work, with a very creative approach. The palette knife work is extraordinary, and the texture throughout is excellent. has a very visual appeal with the colors and composition. Good contest entry. A pleasure to view!

I like this painting but get the impression it has been uploaded on its side. Bit tricky trying to view the work with my head bent over. I love the colours in this work but more importantly the textures which are amazing. I was going to ask how you got the textures but then read your notes to see you have used a palette knife to great effect. Like the colour of the sails on the boats which give a bright boost to the tonal range. Very apt for the contest so Best Wishes in that.

I like the texture and dynamic brush stroke.
The artwork appears with a great movement and energy.
The artwork has a feeing n kind of the abstract artwork.
This must be a sea, but I am guessing from your title.
Thank you for sharing.

I like your colors and the way you have put them on your canvas. It appears that the sails are painted differently. Why is that? Is that interpretation of the piece? The piece has good impact.

I think that the idea is that we are moving along towards the light,
Some have gone before, all are different yet we have common themes.

Palette knife painting in oil gives a great freedom, and the texture when it's dry can literally be felt!
    Thanks.

Very interesting abstract. I like the colors you used and the bold strokes. the little huts create a focal point for the eye, and lead it to the sea, which I like especially.
