thanks for sharing history, and the preservation of it. the lines and angles present nice story of the trench. good color, detaile and contrast well. BEV

excellent capture. really leaves the viewer with a sense of the reality of war. lighting good. focus is a little soft but that happens with point and shoots. all in all good capture.

Composition is well tended to, i like the lead in line and how well it leads one to explore. image renders a bit blurry and more sharpness could improve. Color work looks cool.

Thanks so much, I appreciate your feedback Added a note to the notes to say I was using point and shoot camera so no control over settings - more in memory of our fallen than technical ability :) Mary

You're welcome and thanks for the come back Mary. I suspected it was a point and shoot.

The subject of this photo is very interesting. Thank you for providing background information! I like the colors and composition. Maybe the lighting and focus could be improved a little. Nice photo!

What a story is told and a war that was so cruel, as all wars turn out to be. So thanks for the reminder. The low rating is because the focus is soft, especially the foreground, takes away a lot of the initial impact. Thanks for sharing, john

Images like these bring home the horrors of war. A different war(s) to what we would know today, but still terrible with hurendous loss of life. I visited Jersey and went on a similar tour where I saw sights which really affected and upset me. I think it is good such places are perserved, not just im remembrance to those who lost their lives, but to remind future generations too. Very well captured and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Susan, I actually didn't want to go there but my husband is a history buff so went along with him. I am glad I went as it was so moving, unfortunately we keep making the same mistakes.

Wonderful documentation of that brutal battle. If i recall correctly, the Brits and the Australian forces lost more than 5,000 in the battle.
Your picture is very well done, wonderful framing to give us a great look "into" the trenches.
