So that's what they're up to while we sleep! I have a soft spot for unloved creatures, and you have to admire roaches as tough, adaptable survivor. They do have their fun side: I will never forget finding several large ones in the bottom of my tooth mug one morning, feet up and blowing bubbles. They were drunk on fine Panamanian rum, which a fellow researcher and I had been drinking the previous night at an environmental research station on Gatun Island. Oh, those were the days!
