Excellent poster MK. The high lights and shadows on the chess pieces are very well done, and the feeling of polished wood on the dark horse and bishop are exceptional. cainse

Question MK. Does this contest allow Sharpi/BIC brand only, or will any brand of felt tip pen do? cainse

Very creative and all of the elements connect well. Good content. Very persuasive. It makes me want to join the contest. I like the angle of the board and the knight facing up the board. Great detail and contrast. I like the thumbs up and the facial expression.

Are you advertising a contest on the sharpie site so more sharpie artists will join FAR?
The advertising needs a draw card like a winning prize to bait them in. :-)
I like the detail in the chess pieces. The light is wonderful. It makes them look shiny and beautiful.
However, the queen which is living on the edge draws the eye right off the page. She should have been fully on the board or fully left out in my opinion.
This is inspiring. How about a chess art contest if you are going to create a challenge?
Please allow digital art in it too.

sharpie website doesnt really show any true interest in competetion..only sell pens..just the thought being recognized with sharpie art is worth the battle alone..god i know! wink..why dont u join the contest? dealine is the 24th..cya there and thanks for the review!

I don't own any Sharpies or Bics. I only have cheap and nasty felt pens which I bought at overflow for $2 for a packet of 12. The colors dry up after one picture. Besides that I tried drawing with felt pens last year and I gained a whole new respect for the media because my work was absolute garbage even if the members here did give it five stars. I prefer digital art. The colors never dry up or run out on the computer. I always have an unlimited supply of them and don't need to buy more art materials ;-)

u know ur squeeking at the biggest tightwad in my area.u can pic up a 2 or 3 pack(with multicolors)for a couple of bucks from ur local office supply retailer. oh if u get a chance to look up one of my works called "red dragon" and read the artist notes..wink

Take a look at item #261230904647 on ebay. If I was to buy some, do you think those would be any good for painting or are the tips too fine?
    Would item #181131936629 be better?

ebay? never really shopped on bay before. always went sharpie direct or saw the retailer...sharpie has both fineline liquid pencil or razor tip pen(the razor been around over 30 yrs) then the sharp tip point have a bigger felt to cover thicker areas. u can pick up a 24 pack for $10 to $12 and a 36 pack from $17 to $20. does that help?

if ur talking about those cheap watercolor pens..yeah i went thru hell trying to draw with them as well. i gave them up yrs ago!wink
reply by Skyangel02 on 08-Jul-2013
How long does it take before the sharpies dry out? How many A4 size pictures could you do with a black pen for example if you did black backgrounds like on this chess example.
reply by the author on 08-Jul-2013
dries instantly on basic posterboard..a few seconds on glossy posterboard..the black marker on this type of background? about 2 or 3 pictures then the color starts to fad..i use those used pens on some blending with gray until ink is completely gone and i toss..i try to get the max out of them..wink
