Thank you for your notes which I found interesting. I have seen the males and as you say they are bright red. This female is pretty though in her own right with the red bill and the reddish tufts on top of the head and in the wings. Very good image which is perfectly in focus. The seed in the mouth definitely adds to the shot and is very apt for the contest. Good Luck in that.
