I am sure Sange will appreciate this photo. I have of course never heard about this bird before, but it is really cute and it is also standing out really well against the blue sky. Sounds like its hunting skills are pretty good, and the bug for sure has no way of escaping.

Your focus is spot on and sharp showing clear and well defined details in the little bird, and the exposure is perfect. It is also lovely colors in this shot.

I can't make up my mind if I would have preferred a tighter cropping or not, but it works the way you have done this as well. I suppose it depends on what you were after in the first place. It is anyway a well taken photo and with a good DOF.

Thank you so very much! He was a long way off, so I was using my 70-300 lens. I cropped as tight as I dared.

Good Morning Willie

Nice capture. Clear and crisp and good composition. I like the shallow depth of field and that nice blue sky is a great background for this little guy.

Light is good and I like the sun on the green foliage. With a little effort I can see the sparkle in his eye and the details of his feathers.

All in all a nice image. Thank you for sharing.

These fellows are so much fun to watch! I think the background is blurred just right to make him seem almost 3d. I do think that the red could be toned down in the background a little, and there seems to be some noise in the sky, might consider de-noise a tad? Donkeyoatey

Thank you so very much! The red you see is from dead branches. I was in deep wood shortly before this was taken and I had the ISO set on 1000 and had forgotten to change it back. I did use denoise and thought it was cleaned up but after your comment I took another look and I agree it needs another trip to denoise!

Ha! Great shot on the eye! So hard to shoot this bird! I must have taken 50 shots before I was able to get that catch light in his eye! It is so black between the mask and eye being one solid color.
Thanks for sharing W!
Nice capture in the slash pine.

Thank you so very much! When I have eye problems like this, sometimes I cheat. Get in real close and look at the eye. Usually you can find a lighter portion. I will take my paintbrush tool with it set on white and just hit that area to make it have a catch light. Just be careful and don't over do it. It makes a difference as it will separate the eye.

A very nice photo of this Loggerhead Shrike.

Clear, sharp focus with perfect DOF. I'm guessing your settings were 5.6 at 1/800 sec (ISO probably 100). HA,HA,HA - please, I've been studying quite a bit - let me know if I'm close.

A nice DOF achieved for the shot. Nice frame and presentation. I like it!

Thank you so much! You are a little off on the settings ISO 800 1000/sec f11.
I normally don't shoot with ISO 800 but I had been in the deep forest and had to bump it up because of the deep shade and had forgotten to change it. Normally I would have been on ISO 100 up to 400.

This is a really great photo. It looks like it should be in a nature magazine. I love the unfocused background. Your use of a little bit of detail paid off. Good job.
