Great capture of the beautiful tiger having a drink. He looks rather sad but maybe that's because he's just woken up. I like the pose you caught here.

Lighting and focus very good showing excellent clarity. Very nice composition. Suzanne

What a big kitty, love those eyes and big paws. Good stop action on the drink, focus and angle. Wish they glass was cleaner, however, it still is a good view and tells your story.

Thanks George, I played with it again but not very good at post production work. He is a beautiful tiger always love seeing him and so happy to see him that close.

I like the capture, the eye contact and the way you frames him in the lens, all of that is very good. I especially like the paws and the angle, very intimate.

For the glass being dirty the shot is very good, the glass did not seem to affect that aspect, no splotches.

I do think however that the glare coming in from the left is a detractor to the overall crispness and clarity of the image.

All that being said it would be a great one to use as re fence for a drawing or painting. (Would U send me a copy & allow me to use it for that purpose?)

This is an excellent composition. The image looks nice and sharp. Your choice of subject and the expression on the tiger's face is superb. So why 4.5 rather than 5 or higher? The image is very under-exposed. I would bump up the exposure and vibrance and sharpen slightly. If the left hand top corner gets too bright you can always tone it down by adding a vignette or doing some selective editing. This is a superb image but it definitely needs some post-processing. Do let me know if you decide to make the changes. I would love to see it again. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thanks drmerlin, I have played with post production work and cannot seem to improve about to reload image but not sure it is a lot better. Happy with 4.5 as I knew it wasn't brilliant but was so impressed getting such a closeup look at this magnificent animal. Cheers Mary

Hi Mary. This is such a great image. It is definitely worth the work. If you tell me what you have tried and whether this was a RAW image or jpg I would be happy to offer some suggestions.

    Kind regards

    Brian

Thanks for offer Brian - I am not good with photoshop. The file is JPG and was quite blurred through the window I adjusted contrast (55) Brightness (-12) Levels auto and cropped left side to the paw as it was over exposed on left and I couldn't seem to adjust for that section. Any advice would be appreciated. I also use Picasa but that is fairly fundamental editing tool so tried Photoshop for this image. Cheers Mary

Super shot.It is a good close up view of the tiger drinking water using its tongue. With adequate light the picture is bright enough to see clearly its features and the position it takes when it has to drink water from the water hole.

That is a very big kitty kat! His tongue would just about swallow my ginger kitty kat...lol. IT is very difficult to photography through glass, particularly when its grubby, but hey you take what chances you get. Did you have a polarising filter on the camera? Sometimes that can help in those situations. A little bit of post processing to lighten up the right side of the image would have gained a bit more detail for you. Was this taken at that wildlife sanctuary down there, cannot remember the name?
Cheers
Kim

Thanks Kim, will try some post production (not very good at that stuff) and see how it goes. Polarising filter but window was really bad and sunlight coming down made it worse - taken at Adelaide Zoo in city.

very good as taken through glass, his face is great the markings clear, if you did alittle exposure and colour editing he would be even more striking. nicely centred as if he is looking straight at you.

what a great photo, love the quality of the picture, and the lighting looks a bit soft though. The focus looks good, and the angle is great. The action with it's drinking the water is nice.

Thanks Kim, the window was amazingly dirty so difficult and had full sun so tried various angles to get anything clear. Best I could do but so unusual to get him this close. Daugther suggested someone should go in with a squeegee and clean inside of window :)

Yes that could be a problem...
