A very interesting place that is a good reminder of where our colors for paints used to come from. The red and white are a stark contrast to each other and the area kind of reminds me of the Southwestern US. Nice photo of this place and its interesting history.

What is so very good about this shot are the stark contrasts between light and shadow and the jewel-like quality of the ochre quarry... still beautiful color! The artist notes bright the picture to life and are give an excellent context for appreciating the image. It doesn make you think about artists and paints, a fascinating subject! Lovely work!

I like the angles and depth of field here!! Nice perspective view and colors. The rock ledges look great and that deep looking shadow. Great job!!

Fred,
A wonderful picture of this unique site showing some of the wonderful shades of Ochre found in that quarry. The green of the trees & the lapis lazuli blue of the sky making most beautiful contrasts of colour. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with sharp focus.

Just love this shot. You have used the right time of day to use the shadows to best effect and really highlight all the colours in contrast with the lovely blue sky. really nice, well done

Very interesting subject well captured. The dramatic contrast of the ochre with the blue sky is striking. I hope you took some closer pictures as it looks like there might yet be some more likable shots here.

Reading over my comment I realize I may have put something poorly. I meant, more shot that are equally likable. Cheers. JR

Nice strong colours in this one,and the blend of the different colours combined with the different shapes of the landscape make for a pleasing photo...brian

Wonderful colour here and I agree the ochre against the chalk is quite amazing - then you bring in the blue of the sky and green and you have such a wonderful array. When we were touring England and there were so many greens the thing I missed the most was the colour of red ochre which is so prominent in Australian landscape. :) Mary

It never ceases to amaze me at the natural beauty that surrounds us. Nice highlight of the orange and the white, against the green and blue. Light is good even with the shadows. DOF very good. Framed well.

Very lovely. I love the bright blue sky and the gorgeous color of the natural terrain. Looks very much like the American Southwest! Very tantalizing piece!
