    Thanks Wendy, seemed pretty happy they like to get water sprayed from hose into the mouth. :) Mary

Brutus needs to see a dentist for an implant of the missing right tooth; lol; a very nice capture of the most dangerous African animal;

    Thanks so much, yes glad there was a barrier between them and us even though the teeth aren't that good. :) Mary

Big teeth for a huge mouth! Hippos are amazing animals and very dangerous from what I've heard. A number of people are killed by them in Africa each year. One chomp with that mouth would certainly do it. Perfect timing to catch him with the mouth wide open. Waiting for the food to fall in I guess. ha Makes me want to go visit the zoo in Seattle. Haven't been for many years. Thanks for sharing this Mary.

    Thanks again David, off again tomorrow to zoo with some photography friends I have an annual pass as it is only a 20 minute walk from our house so try to go regularly weather permitting. :) Mary

A very good catch with the open mouth, focused and framed on a sunny day. Wow, what large teeth, not sure I would want to get very close to these big creatures.

Great timing to capture this big, wide yawn!
Interesting initial impact with this wildlife subject showing his buccal features.
The teeth & fangs indicate his almost half century of existence & part of it is in captivity.
The backdrop is quite an eye sore, quite distracting instead of accentuating the hippo.
Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks very much Dick, yes unfortunately the concrete pool that is part of their home is not the greatest but not confident in editing so decided to just post straight from camera. :) Mary
