Very good contest entry, I really like the way you have framed the grasshopper against the olive green background.

Good textures in the BG, sharp focus on the main subject!

This is magical photographic art you have posted!

The composition is such that this hopper can feel free to hop into the space provided, to bad about the missing leg! Still the detail you have caught is what really makes this shot pop.

Where did you get that painting filter from, it's dynamite and a perfect background as it doesn't compete but only enhances the whole image.

The technical aspects are smack on the money. Sharp as a tack, brilliant saturation, great exposure. This poor fellow almost looks frightened.

The diagonal placement of the main focal point adds further dynamism.

It's an oh wow shot and that is the only time I will give a 6. It's a winner.

He appears to be missing an antennae as well! Poor thing. Wonder if he was hit by a lawn mower? I am assuming your background was a bit fussy so you used the filters, very nice choice. I like what you've done both with the color and the texture. Very nice capture in spite of his injuries!

...not a big fan of insects, but when I say this, i thought: poor baby.

This is well focused -- and using a painting filter on the background was a good choice.

Looks like an encounter with a bird maybe. A good contest entry, like the pin sharp focus, good frame and exposure to show the green details on this little one.
