It's face kind of reminds me of the gecko on the Geiko Insurance adds. Strange looking lizard and amazing that it can stay under water so long. That long tail must be filled with a huge lung! ha Nice image of this fellow with its mouth partially open. good shot and a critter I've not seen before.

Wow Mary you are doing so well with your new zoo captures! It is very difficult to shoot through glass and you have done really well here. His open mouth and eye clarity are both SUPERBULOUS.
Great capture!

A very fine composition with an absolutely riveting eye. The colors are very good and the impact is high. It appears a little soft, probably from shooting through a glass enclosure.

Well... isn't this "lovely!"

The dragon detail is superb. I don't think you needed to photograph the rest of its body... (I'll believe you that the tail is pure muscle.)

The bokeh in this shot is terrific! I like how it matches the color of his eyes!

Wow, did not know they could grow that big. Like the happy face pose, clean background, focused with a bright eye. Good one.

There are two things about this shot that are exceptional: first, the subject is unique, how many times to you see a real dragonīs face? Plus itīs appearing to smile, which makes it even rarer; second, the earth tones in the background is ideal, bringing out the yellows of its throat so very well! Donīt like the blur in the bottom corner, but nobodyīs perfect :)

Thanks Oliver, appreciate your positive comments. The blur is the rock it was hiding behind and couldn't really crop any tighter so decided to leave it :) Mary

Very nice profile of this Gippsland Water Dragon. He actually looks like he's smiling. Great clarity, lighting, and color. Nice contrast to the blurred background. Good close up showing detail and texture. Great initial impact.
