This is really a fabulous photograph!

The Blue Jay is in great focus and I love the POV from his tail.

The slant of the item he's sitting on adds a bunch of dynamic interest to to this simple, quiet work.

Finally, the snow and sky are the perfect elements to show of this jay... glad the sky was a bit blue... adding another shade of that color to this lovely pic!

Really cute little fellow. I love the way the blue sky & clouds merges & off sets the blue in the bird.

Thanks for sharing it,

This is stunning. The color of the sky in the background puts it over the top for me. I wish I had 6 points left for you. All of the points of photography are excellent and your capture is amazing. Congratulations!

You are very welcome. I have decided to take what works for me from reviews on here and leave the rest. We all have different tools and different views so I prefer the positive points or specific advice. Opinions are tenuous. Your work is awesome and full of feeling. Be yourself first. (I have given myself this same pep talk.. :)

Thanks so much! I am trying to keep that in mind! For awhile I was trying to please everybody and in the end I wasn't pleased with my work and wasn't enjoying doing it! Now I consider what people say and then decide if I think they are right or not=) It is still a great learning experience on here and I am learning a lot from everybody! Thanks for all your help=) Have a great day my friend=)

Poor thing! He is almost frozen. Without the feeders, they could not survive the winter. Love the angle and the composition, the color, great DOF, and sharp focus. Well done.

Great capture of this lovely little Blue Jay, waiting for the snow to blow off the feeder. I like the addition of clouds.

Lighting and focus very good showing great detail. Very nice composition. Suzanne

I just know you must have jumped for joy with this capture! It's award winning stuff.

Composition, especially with that diagonal slant gives a tremendous amount of dynamism. Then you have the texture of the snow on the branch and the way it blends into the background is perfect as is colour harmony. I am looking hard for marginal errors in your edges...you have done a good job but the halo around the beak ought not to be there. Did you use your refine edges and make sure your auto enhanced is checked?

Now, here are some tips for you.

Avian photographer's use the eye catchment technique for eyes...works really great on yellow, green, red eyes not so much on black but what you can try is take your dodge tool and dodge his eye...it will brighten and we will be able to grasp it easier.

Another tip is take your doge tool and ever so slightly dodge around his face to bring out the white a bit more so that we really will gravitate towards it.

It is without a doubt a winner but I feel it could be a touch better!

I have returned half a star back to you. Nice job and you didn't think I'd notice - ha !! !

Thanks so much I am really glad you noticed! I didn't think about the halo around the beak as it was part of the cloud but I think it does look better! I cloned the blue so it didn't look like it was a halo=) Thank you for the tips!
