What a way to survive... just blend into nature! Fortunately, for us, it could not hide from your lens!
At first I thought this was a leaf in the shape of lips ...a subtle smile, in fact.
Sharp focus, good placement in the frame.

Camouflage? Indeed! Ain't nature wonderful. The focus and composition are great. Too bad whatever he landed on was orange. More contrast would be nice, but sometimes we have to take what we get. Cheers, JR PS. Thanks for the entomology lesson.

many thanks again; I would of course prefer to see it on a tree, but with sucha camouflage, mission impossible!

Fred,
That is truly amazing the Butterfly does closely resemble a dried Autumn leaf until you enlarge it see the head & legs of the Butterfly & note the veins do not necessarily stem from the "spine of the leaf" but from the Butterfly's back. Added to this a dead leaf would lie flat on the plastic below it not on it's edge!
Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with sharp focus.

Pretty leaf and setting, and background. Nice focus on leaf, to see the grain and colors. Nice placement.

Resembles smiling lips, too. Yes a very good camouflage for this butterfly. (I read the good artist notes.) Very unusual subject and a pleasure to have you share this image and information. Focus is good with the details and textures offering a good initial impact. Lucky shot and well done.
