Nice catch on the water. I agree with some other reviewers, the focus is too narrow. I think, in a picture like this, unless you central subject is very interesting, you want to focus on the whole subject. Here the pipe and the water are what the picture is meant to be about. The eye is drawn to the pipe itself and not necessarily the water. Otherwise, nice color and balance. Cheers, JR.

Thanks James, appreciate your honest feedback. Yes was practising with macro lens and have a way to go, will probably take tripod next time as I found it harder to stablise when working with this lens. :) Mary

Yes I'm a big fan of tripods. If you find yourself without one, there are ways to make yourself into a tripod. One brief suggestion, hold the camera right on your face and keep your arms clamped to your body. Gives stability. Breath out and shoot. Cheers, JR

Thanks for the suggestion will give that a try - tend to leave tripod behind as I walk to most places and it gets heavy with the camera bag (old age can't manage as much as I used to) Cheers Mary

It makes a fine photo with the little stream of water falling from the end of the bamboo. Wonder why they used PVC instead of keeping it more natural looking? Nice composition Mary with a fine focus on the stream of water. Nice clean background with no distractions. Good photo!

Thanks again David. Presume the gardener has just used a temporary fix hope so - if still like that when I go back I think I will complain to council as it looks very cheap and nasty. :) Mary

the photo misses the most critical thing... sharpness....light is ok but you need to concentrate on the sharpness. good attempt

So simple, so lovely, very peacful feeling when looking at this. Great job. I like the focal point, makes me feel like having a drink though!

Bamboo is WAY better than PVC! Glad you got this "relic."

I wish the DOF on this shot was a bit larger. But, that is just a simple aperture setting.

The trickle of water is nice.

Thanks Snowblaze, was practising with my macro lens - long way to go getting the setting right but your reviews assist in me seeing where I have gone awry. :) Mary

I love the harmony of the scene and the color, great balance of composition and very nice textures. Soft light and shadows, sharp focus, and nice fall of the water. Well done.
Mara.

This is quite interesting. Love the water flow and the look inside of bamboo. Are there different kinds of bamboo? The kind behind my house are green?

It is cool how the water reflex as it flows.

Very interesting work!
