Looks like what I would call a bumble bee and I don't know one from the other. Nice shot of this bee with its distinct yellow and black markings on it's abdomen. Looks like a good sized bee and the info you provided about it is interesting. Sounds like these bees have spread all over the world although I've never seen one. Nice sharp photo of this one on those pretty pink and white blooms and thanks for sharing it.

A beautiful macro shot of this Wool Carder Bee on the beautiful pink blossoms. The details visible of it's wings & segmented abdomen are amazing. It looks as if has also lost one of it's antenna. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with razor sharp focus.
