Good photo, good position for the head, colours is, like the green palm grass colours matching with the b/g on the right corner. Only for me, and this is my humble opinions, need little bet cropping on the left, more focus and sharpness on the face. Little bet blurred. LOL

The sickening thing is that they are endangered because people eat them. Here in New Orleans it's considered a delicacy. When I see these these guys I imagine going back to the age of dinosaurs. Great capture, love the bit of green stuff. Cheers, JR.

A very good look at this not so handsome one, they are kind of cute in their own way. Our local zoo has a lot of them and they seem to be healthy and happy. Good focus, frame and exposure to show a snack time in progress.

Cute title for this shot Mary. Only a mother could love that creature. ha I've heard that these big land tortoises live a long time. Saw a program on the Galapagos islands and the huge tortoises they have there live a hundred years or so. Nice shot of this big one and the title is perfect!

I am so happy that you got to get this tortoise who is awake.

Your right about not being a handsome creature but it takes all kinds of creatures to make up the world.

To me it looks like the tortoise is eyeing you to make sure you don't take its food.

Good one.

I don't understand this it's really sort of confusing and it's not pleasing to the eyes I'm not really impressed so I can't give a high rating better luck next time buddy!

I understand that you are new to site and welcome. Could you please read the how to rate section you seem to have applied star rating to initial impact and the technical side unless you can advise where I have gone so wrong has not been evaluated. 1.5 stars would I dictate that the photograph is totally blurred very dark unable to see subject as it has not been composed well etc and I really don't feel this I image warrants that response. You are entitled to that opinion ion but please back up with constructive advice as to improvements.

What a noble tortoise this one is. Chewing on grass and holding his head so high. He does need some lessons in hygiene though, like bathing. Wonderful photo.
