Excellent initial impact. What a weird looking bird. The lighting is great.

Now if this piece does not show attitude, then nothing else will.
The angle of framing is unique even without showing the whole bird.
Thank you much for the educational notes.

Nice little shot of this crane, good detail as well, what I might have been tempted to do here is try to get on the same level as the bird, don,t know whether that was possible, but think it would have been slightly better..brian

The background works well to set off the bird. Everything is in sharp focus. Capturing the details of the bird is striking. Nice job!

One of my favorite birds to shoot at our local zoos. They are so colorful. Good focus, frame and exposure to show the head feathers and colorful face.

Good title for this photo Fred. They are neat looking birds for sure and the crest feathers do look a bit like a bunch of straw on their heads. I've seen them in zoos but of course not in the wild. A good photo captured with fine camera techs and well framed.

A great shot - a shame the head was not against the green background and therefore allowing that crown to pop a little more. All technical as always are spot on including focus, lighting, color and depth. Great presentation with ample room for this one to continue his/her explorations. Kathy

A very fine subject and a well composed image. I would prefer the background a bit farther behind the subject so that the crest stands out better. Excellent light and a fine job of cropping.

Fred,
A wonderful picture of the Black Crowned Crane strutting "it's Stuff" in front of you the wind ruffling it's breast feathers it's beady blue eye fixed on something in front of it. It's spiky crown feathers perched on it's head like "a Lady's Faciator" at a Horse Race Meet or a Wedding. Artistic composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with sharp focus.
