Fantastic portrait painting and he is cute for sure , your reproduction is excellent in details it really looks like a picture - your pencil technique is excellent, soft where is has to be and strong for shadow application creating deepness - your light application strikes with the shining brilliant hair and the light reflection in his face , your design, is perfect in details, fantastic frame, super contest entry , thanks for sharing

I've attempted doing something like this before and I put some powdered charcoal on a cotton ball, "blotched" or "wipe" it on a paper before applying a very thin layer on the very bright face..as if applying make up on a person.
Why are so many FARtists here soooo conscious about overexposures? Even my macro entry, one reviewer wants me to burn the bright leaf as he said, it's a bit blown off! They are so perfectionists about lighting! But I don't know how to do post editing as all my works are posted straight from my iPad (except cropping)...
