Is this from your mind or did you have a model? Because, she looks like the girl next door type. Linda, you are a talent. I love what you have created here. Excellent shading. Fantastic detail. Well done.

I looked at a photo to draw this, but I added the wings. It was for a Valentine's greeting. Cupid's lover. Thank you for you interest. Thank you for this wonderful review.

This is perfect for Valentine's day, and such an absolutely beautiful drawing. I especially like the fine textures you have brought out in the elegant dress and then especially the top with the fine embroidery. I can almost visualize that it is done with silver thread and pearls.

It is also lovely with the light above the angel's head and how it is falling on her face. It is almost needless to say that this is drawing paying such good attention to details.

The drawing is also nicely framed and I think it is a good balance and flow in the composition. You have again produced a beautiful piece of art, and in the most excellent way.

This is a lovely drawing that shows love and emotion. The shading in the background keeps your attention on the beautiful angel who has such a lovely face and expression. Very nice and thank you for sharing.

Simply lovely, and deserving of a higher rating than I have. The composition is perfect, the shading incredibly realistic, and the background adds depth and looks like heavenly clouds. Very sweet and emotional, realistic, and wonderfully conceived and executed.

First of all I really enjoyed reading the reasons and "the spirit" that is working behind the scene. Your love and faith for a "Greater Power" is wonderful!

What works in "the Babe" and this drawing is the wonderful handling of the figure. Good choice for the model and if you worked from memory, "Oh my gosh, Holy Mackerel."
What's needed is an extended level of value, white to black, as in your Christmas card. Also, as in the card you could use the negative space to help create additional suspense or to suggest that there is more beyond what I am actually seeing. Although the angel holds the "wilting flower" it doesn't suggest the story why she's here, maybe a red rose? Definitely a wonderful drawing that begins to move me beyond the actual drawing!

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

What a spectacular pencil drawing with stunning detail! Great composition and variety of values, textures, and patterns.
I'm going to be a little picky with this, but I hope you'll understand and get something out of this.
First, the angel's right hand is a bit oversized--hands should generally be just smaller than the face. You could easily fix that.
Also, the smooth fabric flowing down from her dress lacks the shadows from the lighting (especially towards the right side of the fabric in the picture, there's a blowout with a lack of any shadows or texture). If the light is coming from the upper right corner, there should be some darker shadows in the dress and darker values throughout the drawing (like under the angel where she's leaning).
However, I'd like to applaud you on the extraordinary effort you put into the detail and perfect anatomy of the figure. She really stands out, her expression leaving us pondering on the story behind this work.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece and can't wait to see more of your work!

Well Linda! Happy New Year. My grandson was born on December 17th; consequently between his birth and the holiday's - again I was pulled away from FAR. I'm so glad to have come across this post. Like all your work it is simply divine. I will continue to say; "your work is so exact and detailed, it resembles photography". Simply stunning. Kathy

Hi Linda. I probably missed this before I became a fan. She is beautiful and it seems to have a biblical title. A great message and wonderful pose, a powerful presentation. Loyd
