A mammal that lays eggs! Wow! Didn't realize there was such a critter. The things I learn on this site. Looks sort of like a miniature porcupine with a lone slender nose. good shot of it Mary and I don't think I've ever seen one before so this is a treat. Thanks for sharing it and glad it made an appearance for you.

    Thanks again David - have only seen one of these in the wild and we were on a narrow mountain road at the time so couldn't stop - they are pretty elusive my ambition is to get a platypus photo which are even harder to find. :) Mary

nice composition. the shot is good, if not a little soft. The light is a touch too harsh, but great effort and good details here.

    Thanks Julie, for a short legged animal he moved pretty fast so was happy to achieve this in the moment.

What a wonderful little animal so like our British hedgehog. The main difference is his nose and spikes, these ones look more like porcupine quills. Very well caught great focus and light.
