Fred,
A beautiful picture of this deadly Mushroom, helping us all to recognise it next time we come upon it in a field under trees. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting with superb camera techniques with razor sharp focus.

I remember the story of emperor Claudius and the dish of poison mushrooms that did him in. I stay away from all of them cause sometimes even the expert mushroom hunters make a mistake. Will always remember the three people here in Yakima years ago that all died from a poisonous mushroom. Got a good crop in my yard right now. ha Neat photo of this deadly mushroom and thanks for sharing it.

I eat them if purchased from a market or restaurant but am afraid of picking them in the wild because I just do not know enough to be safe. Thanks for the informative narrative on this spooky and very bad mushroom. Treat focus, frame and colorful.

I'm no mycologist, but I do recognize this one which I learned was called the "destroying angel" or
"death angel". A great illustration of the snow white mushroom with the collar on the stem and the bulb at the base. Great composition, excellent details and fine colors.

Great capture and very interesting notes. The photo has fine detail, great lighting, and great colors. It's scary to think people will eat mushrooms grown wild but they sure are fun to photograph.
