Very interesting notes and certainly this story is a definite deterrent to picking wild mushrooms.
The photograph is quite beautiful and shot with your usual finesse.

I would like to give you 7 stars for your artist's notes. I cannot imagine how painful death by mushroom must feel. Thank you for this post.
Photographically you have made this deadly mushroom up close and personal for us to study it well and study it we do, especially after reading your notes.
The image is well in focus, nicely cropped with good marginal space all round. I would like to have seen the background more blurred as some of the brown stems are in sharp focus competing with this deadly fellow, but that really is a minor moan.

Yesterday we went to the same McDonalds where we had a coffee together and we spoke of you....were your ears burning?
