I've never seen the like of him. And what a fine way to be introduced. Great colors, excellent details, a fine reflection. An excellent presentation and a joy to see.

I love the color of the eye! I just wish he were facing the camera so we can see him a bit better. Also cropping in might solve the problem as well. But good shot. Clear and engaging. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Karen will see if I had a head on shot in the mix I took. Unfortunately as most animals and birds are camera shy they don't always co-operate :) Mary

Looks a little bit like our ring necked duck which is a diving duck also. Wonder how they got the name Hardheaded? Cute little duck and you captured it very well with nice reflections on the water. I've heard the term Billabong before, it that like a pond? Fine sharp image of this duck with a sharp eye and nice feather detail. Good shooting.

Thanks David yes billabong is a pond formed by the river branching off to a dead end and is usually stagnant. The ducks and other birds don't seem to mind but on hot days can be somewhat smelly. :) Mary

The greens reflected on the water go so well with the brown pretty boy. Love it, great focus and frame to show the beauty of nature on this cute little guy.

Thanks Debi and welcome to FAR - can I query the 4 stars as according to the guide you found something wrong with image (in FAQ there is a guide to ratings). Not an issue just wanted clarification. :) Mary

there is a guide i'll find and read and will get better hope it does not hurt you.

No doesn't hurt in anyway - a lot of newbies to FAR miss the guide - I think it was under Info tab - Frequently Asked Questions.

Hard headed? My kind of duck! Very nice documentary picture. All details and colors well captured. Maybe just a smidge more off the top? Cheers, James.

This is a beautiful shot of the bird. You have timed it well. The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good effort!

Just for a minute I thought this was a decoy duck used by hunters (?) for 'I don't really know' (lol)...However he does look very contented and will make a good addition to to your album
