It's hard to tell from this angle, but it looks like a red-bellied woodpecker. Anyway, interesting catch here. Not your standard bird portrait, but something different. I love the eye, of course. Nice shot. Cheers, James.

A very nice looking female red bellied woodpecker. The lighting is quite harsh with deep shadows, but the composition is appealing and the colors are fine.
