the blue background brings out the focus on the dried corn. i like the angle and how it appears to just hang there

Ah, my very favorite complementary colors! This would almost work as an abstract composition-I always squint and take a look too! Nicely painted and and composed, there is a feeling of depth n suggestion of texture! Great artist notes! Happy Thanksgiving! jean

I like the image you painted so much, particularly the color of blue chosen and the corn stalks are so much more interesting than the common well-defined ones... more impressionistic, as are the ears of colored corn. I thought the Indians fed the pilgrims? But I could be mistaken. If it was a harvest festival why so late in November when just a little to the north in Canada it is celebrated in early October? Just something that popped in my head. Hope your Thanksgiving was well enjoyed!

Thank you for your kind review. You are right, the Indians indeed feed the Pilgrims throughout the first hard winter. That's were the corn comes in. The following year the thankful Pilgrim invited the Indians to a special feast after the had their crops brought in. This was the event which is now known as the first Thanksgiving. The Canadian Thanksgiving is a much younger holiday which has nothing to do with the Pilgrims. The holiday celebrates the harvest and is based on old European Rites from Folklore. The holiday was introduced by the Canadian Parliament in 1957.

Thank you for knowing, and for sharing it! So the first thanksgiving is actually the second thanksgiving. interesting, no. especially if you have a little indian in you... as do I.

An interesting thought indeed

What a lovely image along with such a lovely sentiment. The colors in your image are perfection, and the composition is simple but profound. Background blue is just stunning and an outstanding compliment to warm tones in dry corn. Really nice work, and thank you so much for your notes.

Thanks for the Happy Thanksgiving wishes Cleo with your lovely art which resembles corns and shucks together. The day is the 4th THURSDAY not Tuesday :)
How are you doing, I haven't seen you around for awhile?
The blue background is a nice choice, makes the corn sound out beautifully :)

I was not well again, but hope to work more frequently now. I have missed a lot of work on FAR. Thank you for asking! :O)
