Pelican in Graphite

Simple but I think effective use of the media.

Lucien, is this a quick sketch? Is the pelican on land or floating on the water? I would like to see a bit more definition between the beak of the pelican and the surface it is resting on. Are those clouds or trees in the background? Good rendering of the pelican.

    Linda,

Thank U for having taken the time to go into my portfolio and then looking at my work. Why yes, this is a study sketch for a future piece.

As I read your comments on both pieces I wondered?
It would have been nice if the motivator had been to actually wanting to see what I do, rather than my last review of your piece.

Still your efforts they are appreciated. Cheers!!!

I like the drinking scene and the focus of the long beak of this pelican, and how you've shown its natural environment. Great use of light and dark shades. Prominence of textures. Drawn with great skills and techniques. A pleasure to view.

This is an interesting drawing. It does looks prehistoric, but to me it looks also surreal, as if the body is a rock formation and the head a stone which lays against it. The light reflecting stone in front, the use of light throughout and the shading intensify this impression to me.

No worry, you are not late from my point of view!

I'm not sure I see a prehistoric bird. He looks pretty much like a modern day pelican, but that's nether here nor there, the picture, with all it's detail is very interesting and well done.

I think you more than met your goal. Included and adding to the great balance is the incorporation of the clouds. I like the wave action. Great job in presenting this magnificent bird in very good proportion. Well done.
