Congratulations Annie, wow, yet another win, the bank must be bursting at this points.
Unfortunately this contest was not without some controversy, not only the post from Steve, but I had a couple of other complaints. Your entry and at least 4 others were really not in compliance with the definition of Negative Space. It was my fault and I accept that. I realized as soon as some of the entries came in that I had not been clear enough on my description. So rather than write and ask for the images to be removed I just let it go. I am pretty sure Tom would have told me I hadn't been clear enough anyway, well live and leave :)
You image is very fetching with great initial impact :)
Your comment yesterday peaked my curiosity. You said you felt you 'gave back to the community in a lot of ways' just made me wonder if perhaps you work for Tom outside of what we know goes on? Just curious, probably won't warrant an answer.

Thank you very much Shirley. I was sure all the space on the right would be called negative. It is in my book, but you probably meant it should be filled with nothing. I can assure you I don't work for Tom.

Perfect title and entry for this contest. Your negative space is so dreamy, creamy majestic. Love the pose of the reindeer with fine focus and details. I only wish for a brighter visible eye.
Fine work! Good Luck😉

The composition is thoughtful and provokes a sense of peace and calm.
The muted colors, muted horizon and shadow of a tree limb with the reindeer front and center really speak to the idea of the contest.
Well done... This will send me to your page to do some lurking...lol

The theme fits the contest. The image is sharp and clear. The action of the reindeer is cute as well. It is well arranged by giving negative space at the right side.

Very cool concept, nice use of subtle colors. The contrast created by the dark values in the antlers and legs strengthen the image. The light value in the background (behind the subject) is slightly distracting...

Depth: Subtle
Clarity: Crisp subject
Centering/Cropping: Interesting choice, the subject points to the center, but there is nothing, perhaps part of the overall impression attempted
Interest of Subject: Very much
Color: Light, warm, realistic
Initial Impact: Christmas is past...
Overall Impact: Great detail, wonderful imagination stimulation
Personal Thoughts: A wonderful image that really captures the animal well, and the choice of background and ground is wonderful to nearly match the subject.

This is worth a lot more the the 5 I have to offer! How yo did this is not important simply because it worked. What a piece of art. Nothing about this is questionable. Perfect image - get it on canvas!

This is gorgeous. The attention to detail is great, even though it is negative space. I like the shadow under the dear. I like the look of the tree behind him and the softness of the sun. The photo gives a very soft feeling. Stunning.

Wow, this is wonderfully creative and immensely artistic. Perfect placement of the deer in the frame to accentuate the negative space yet retain a perfect spatial balance. For me it is the turn of the head that does that drawing the viewer into the open space and making it more than just empty. The simple and serene background does justice to the deer's clarity and detail as well as enhancing its depth in the scene. Masterful in every way. No more high marks left, unfortunately. So it gets a virtual 6.
