Absolutely Excellent Digital and looks, feels so traditional cleo. Enjoy the soft lines, colors that transition up to Ballerina's face and then back down to her slippers. Lighting is Excellent along with shadow and showing movement. You painted her grace in dance while simply tying her slipper. Beautiful translation in digital along with keen observation in your study. This is no easy task in digital, very well finished and Thank You for sharing,

Beautiful, dream like digital art. Lovely composition of the ballerina. Great skin tone which contrasts nicely with the white attire. Great initial impact. Very well done. ~Alveria

Cleo, it is so nice to visit a "human" art piece done by you and digital art is beyond my understanding, it's another world.

What drew me to this piece is the dreamy effect of the ballerina coming out at us from a white blast . Therein the eye gets somewhat confused. Where is your light source coming from...behind or in front (side)? I do think you need to pronounce the angle more with toning down the white in parts of this image....just a wee bit.

I absolutley love the composition and feel this is the strength of your art. The strong diagonal line is seen slashing through the entire frame down to her ballet shoe she is tying. Her right arm seems a bit milky and needs more detail. Also there is no shadow play on her body, one would think it would be a bit darker beneath her chin.

Overall I like the story, the composition, the feminine softness and the impact it had on me.

It was a delight to review this and I'm happy I found it this afternoon.

Thank you four your kind and through review.
She is on backstage. The bright light from the left corner is spelling over fom the spot lights on stage but there is lower light, coming from the light bridge above. From right comes low light which is part of back stage so that the dancers and technicans can see what they do and wher they walk. I know the light from left needs to be turned down and need some texture. I am experimenting on it. Unfortunatly digital black and white does not work like traditional paint. I tried to use frosting, but all I got with it was bringing the left arm out of shape. I will try on of my personnal digital tricks adding a watercolor layer, but probably have to change the [digital] canvas. I used basic canvas because it is white almost like fine linnen, but I need a more strucktured surface. I might try some [digital] art paper as well. That means to start over again, but thats normal. What you see is the 9th version, the most satisfying so far but its still a work in progress not finished.

Wow, this is stunning. I love the flow and the white. I like her position and POV. Nice vignette adds interest. The slipper is well seen and an important part of this painting. Well done.

There is a lovely peaceful quality to this image, I like the way she is emerging from the page. The way you have put just a touch of darker colour on the corners really helps the image come forward. The way it all blends off into white and becomes light is stunning. If I had not read the top I would have thought this was an actual painting :)

I don't remember your ever doing a person so glad to see a move into different subjects and good effort! Nicely balanced composition, the front arm a bit rubbery look, but good flesh tone. The only other thing is that the white is so brilliant that it needs toning down, I think it interferes with the enjoyment of the piece! Overall nice job! jean

    Thank You very much Jean.
I have done persons before, even portrait. Dance is a theme I paint since I was a child and will always return to it. I have a special connection to the theme since it was part of my job.
I know the piece is not finished. I will think about the white. She is on back stage. The white in the left corner are the spot lights spilling over from stage. I need to bring some kind of shade or texture into it, but came not up with the right idea jet because the digital oils are not the same as the real ones. I tried digital frosting brushes but that got me the arm rubbery and wont work on the white at all. I probably try digital watercolors. Maybe I use one of the advantages of digital painting, were you can paint watercolor on a different layer and then merge the layers. [That trick is not in the books. I found it out experimenting with the medium and digital layers.] ~Cleo

Maybe one step down with the tone on the white? I wouldn't know what that is called in the digital world! Like acrylic and oil which I can make transparent and glaze or remove and redo, watercolor and inks and dyes, I have to make a commitment and go with it! LOL-like a marriage! Getting ready to go to a show about an hour away this afternoon! jean

They go by procentage in the digital world, but the procentage does not work for white and black. I have to go to the gray scale, but the lightest gray I get in oils is to dark. I try another canvas setting or might try paper [digital of course]. I did set it basic canvas for this because this one is like white linnen, almost without struckture. If that does not work I will try the watercolor option. But I need to put this away and do something else. I am getting to the point to overwork the ballerina.

This is a very elegant picture. Is she really that tanned? That's the only thing that stood out. IT's a little orange to me. But I love the softness and elegance.

Thank you very much for your kind review.
Truth she is naturally tanned, at the picture, she wares the body make up all performing artists have to ware on stage, because natural skin reflects the spot lights to much. This body make changes the appearance of skin slightly.

Brilliantly presented here. I absolutely love the transparency lighting. You have a unique talent with the brush.
