Excellent artist notes on this grasshopper. Interesting photo, behind glass it's a bit hard to have perfectly focused but good lighting and excellent effort.

Initial impact impression is this was a really good composition. Sadly the focus is off which lends to the detail not pleasing to me. Thanks for sharing.

I had not heard of this species before, how interesting. A good view, focus and frame through glass to show the unique details on these hoppers. Good one.

A fine shot with brilliant colors and good composition. Not the sharpest image. A problem no doubt exacerbated by shooting through glass in the exhibit.

Nice of you to share these wee beasties and they are flightless! Our world would surely be a boring place without the likes of these to thrill us.
Mary it's a good catch but you have hot spots on them which means your exposure was off. Why not try bracketing when you are in difficult light situations. Otherwise it is an educational piece and thank you for that.

Are they both mating!
Oh, population explosion!
Won't they eat crops like corn?
Impressive capture! A great initial impact. Nice interesting subject. Excellent POV & DOF...Harmonious colors. Impressive lighting, focusing & framing.

Thanks Dick, wasn't quite sure what they are up to the one looks like a baby on the back but looking again after your comment possibly mating. Loqusts are a big issue with the crops but these I believe are native to central Australia where there are very few crops grown. :) Mary
