What a beautiful portrait! The story is awesome! Sad ...but beautiful at the same time! The little girl is beautifully done! Great job and best of luck in the contest! Lilibug6

Outstanding! The realism of the art is photo quality. I had to check the medium. The use of shade and shadow is excellent. The pose of the girl and her facial features tells a story that will break your heart. The details are wonderful and use light is super.

I well remember this Hans Christian Anderson tale as well as the Princess and the Pea! This little story though was a poignant tale and you have brought it to life on the paper the paper with your pencil work!. Lovely rendering love the severe contrast-very dramatic...the snow flakes are a visual bonus! jean

What a very sad story that in all my years I have never read it.Obviously there is no doubt about the creator of this sad but beautiful drawing. The detail in her face, the snow interspersed throughout the drawing and the sadness that shows through undoubtedly makes this a definite six star plus work.Best of Luck to you in the contest~

WOW. (I think I know the artist of this fine work without searching! ;-)

Excellent artist notes/story telling

The cold, harsh poverty is pervasive in this lovely drawing. The unkempt hair, sad face and tattered blanket further reinforce the message of this artwork.

Yet another job well done!!

what a sad but interesting story. i like your background; it gives dimension to the young girl. the girls drape she is wearing came out beautifully. the proportions are very good on the girl. the features of and around her face are perfect. you can feel the cold the young girl is trying to deal with. the image is centered nicely and i see no faults in your work. i think she's beautiful.

Yow,Linda! That's a totally ghastly story but it accompanies a very impressive image! :D
I won't babble on and on about how nice/wonderful/etc. that I think the drawing looks as you and I are both experienced Artists and we know all about the qualities of our creations already and I won't tell you that the image is 'fun to view' ( it isn't and I don't think that you intended it to be! ) but I can readily say that I admire it very much!
A really Good Show here,my friend!

Simply excellent detailing from the strands of her hair to the folds in clothing. A few edges, such as the left side of her nose and knuckles on hand that might be blended further to soften the edge, but that is probably mostly a matter of taste. Excellent use of contrast and framing. Most appealing work and compelling story. I think it hits cold right on the head.
