This is a very well done piece of art, your eye for details is impressive, if you had not disclosed that this was a drawing I would swear it was a black and white photo!! You have captured this perfectly! Thank you for sharing! Donna

Oh, Donna, thank you. Yes this is a drawing, and it is pencil. Getting the background was laboring, and time consuming. You are a fantastic reviewer.

Nice composition. Center of interest is the candle lighting the face and hands. The image has a magical feeling. The image has some good stories that might be made up about it. Well done

Agree, NR. Thank you for you time in reviewing my work. This was done with the contest in mind. I wanted the background to be totally dark. Wasn't easy with a pencil. But it is important to work hard for the end result.

Gee I'm blind and must not have memory of any pencil wizard that I have ever reviewed..wink wink.. Lol. Very creative. The shading is excellent. The facial expression and language is awesome. The depth is.excellent. The creation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. Very creative and excellent. Work overall. (Good luck and don't go blind), evil grin

Hi, dear MK. I am having a problem. A review said that the nostril is weird. Your review has lifted me. We are so attached to our work, it is hard to separate ourselves from them. I truly hope that this entry represents the title of the contest. Thank you for your faithfulness.

That is so true. I like your idea expressed here and your image is powerful indeed. Light and darkness, that is what creates the shadows . Makes the viewer wonder what is in the subjects minds eye.

Hi Bunkie. I called my first born daughter Bunkie for years. She is gone now, and I miss her so. Bunkie is a perfect name. Thank you, Bunkie, for this fantastic review. My appreciation goes beyond my ability to express in words.

You are so right. You cannot have the one without the other. I had to look for a while to get it all in, but then I could clearly see the face of a woman and her hands lifted as if she wanted to shelter the candle from wind. Especially the hands are really well done, but even of you have paid good attention to details when drawing the face and hands, you don't seem to have put the same work into the flame of the candle.

I do however how well the light parts are nicely shaded into total darkness, and also appreciate the nice flow and balance of the composition. I think this is beautifully done and with great technical skills, and I wish you luck with the contest.

You've achieved a very dramatic image here with this lovely pencil drawing and great entry for the contest. I like how you've shown the wisps of smoke from the candle. Excellent light and shading and detail in the fingers.

Great composition. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

You know, Suzanne, you are the only one to comment on the smoke. To me, that reveals a lot of who is reviewing. You obviously know art, and you know the work that goes into creating visions. I am so very grateful that there is someone on this sight that knows the difficulty in producing images that people will not only look at, but feel.
