What a great quirky idea for a light shade !!!! Why not :) Imagine the questions when guests arrive, and I wouldn't mind just watching their reactions when they saw it lol Love it, great enrty for the contest !!! Hope you do well !! Thanks for sharing :)

Like the wood and how it basically frames the upside down umbrella. It gives it somewhat of a nostalgic look. The umbrella itself seems so out of place here. Everything being wood and rustic with the colors complimenting one another and then there is this black and white thing that just doesn't fit...it is like two different times (past and future) trying to come together but not blending well. Two different types of materials....like a carnivore and a vegetarian trying it but not succeeding very well. Yes, it works for the contest. No, there is just something that does not give the WOW INITIAL IMPACT that one is looking for. Even if it would fit for the contest, I would not even have taken the picture because something is just not right. It does not do what it should be doing I'm afraid.
The lighting is okay. The angle maybe should be different in order to give it a different look that would perhaps make it a better photo. I do not wish to offend, but it just overall is less than perfect. Sorry. Thanks for sharing though. Good luck in the contest. And should you win, I applaud you. I would go back and take this photo by standing elsewhere and at a different angle and depth. I bet it will be a better photo.

I disagree. Photos like this are out of the ordinary, and therefore should be taken. No photo is of course perfect, but not liking the subject matter, is not a reason on its own to deduct stars. I can also assure you that this was the best possible angle. Still I do of course thank you for the review.

What a humorous photo. Very unusual. Your focus is sharp. Very well lit. And nicely framed within the shot. Thanks for sharing.

I just love it. What a good topic. It makes me smile, makes me curious(opening an umbrella inside is not good/superstition) Lampshade is the only thing I can think of as to why it is hangong from the ceiling. The whimsical side of me wants to say catching smiles. IDK why. I love the wood as it is soft background for the umbrella subject. Great shot! Thanks for sharing

This looks like a "Cracker Barrel Special"!...I like it for what it is, humorous at the very least. Maybe he had a leak?? It looks like daylight flooding the room which adds to the warmth of the old woods. Detail, focus, color, DOF are all good...It was well worth the look...Thanks...Steve H.

It probably was serving as a lamp shade! You can often see all kinds of unusual things like that in taverns!
It certainly makes for a fine looking image,my friend!
Good Show!

Well... I've seen a Christmas tree hanging upside down, but this is a new one. (...with a yellow bulb???)

What's especially nice is the post-processing on this work. There are lots of wood elements and a bit of rock --- therefore, the "man-made" umbrella and light fixture really stand out. Nice angles in this too.
