You ROCKED this! Wow (and wow.) I like the just peek of the frog... as he is giving us a peek as well. Excellent DOF. Superb focus! The frog's "perch," on a diagonal is a plus. Very nice work.

I guess a one eye, one hand, greenish frog can make a photo. :)

Thanks for the six and thanks for the glowing review Nan. Kermit and I thank you.

I'm sure that you've already heard it, but this is an amazing shot! Close-ups are not easy and you've framed this one quite uniquely! I love it!
Love how vivid the texture is and the colors!

Thank you for this review and the super high rating of 6 stars. If that little frog could think deep thoughts, he too would appreciate your comments and rating. :) So I will thank you on his behalf!

Wow! I love that you can see the reflection in the frog's eye. The texture of the frog's skin captured is amazing. I want to reach out and touch his little foot. I see why you won, amazing shot!

This is exceptional. The focus is wonderful. Congratulations on winning the contest. I was out of town and did not get a chance to vote, but it would have received mine based on what I see. What a treat to look at. Thanks.

Definitely one of the best wildlife macro's I've seen. Depth of Field is perfect; allowing the details / texture in the hands and arms to effectively lead the viewers eye to the frogs eye, where again the sharp focus delivers intricate details even in the retina. The composition is superb (I applaud your decision to not deliver the entire subject). Only framing the one side creates more interest and intrigue. A well deserved winner - congratulations. Kathy

Thanks for this glowing review and rating. Sometimes we can get lucky with a shot. I had to shoot fast for fear he was going to leap away. You would not think the composition of one eye and one leg of a frog would work. But sometimes we are surprised.

Thanks again for your positive comments!

Yep, this is an awesome capture and edit on your part. All technical skills are flawless. But I think your perspective won this contest, hands down. I respect your decision to crop out a good deal of a great photo of this guy, and end up with this show stopper. Thanks for the artist notes and tech info. I also work with Canon...I have a 100mm 2.8. Your shot is sharp and has great color. Thanks for this one!! And congrats on the contest! Rebecca

Thanks so much for your review. Sometimes I try to think of framing a subject that is not common. The original was just a frog with two eyes and to hands. Everyone has been there, done that. I think people take a second look if the image is something or some composition they have not seen before. So the one eyed frog seemed to work this time. He also seemed to cooperate. I got within two inches of him and he did not move. Actually it seemed more like he was in a trance at the time.

And thanks for the high rating.

    I always appreciate your reviews.

P.S. Is your Canon lens an L series? And can you tell me what lenses you have in your photo bag? I am updating and just purchased a EF 70-200 f/2.8 L IS II USM. Just about had to sell a kidney...at least for me. I am moving away from kit lenses...slowly. Just wondered what you consider your 'go-to' lenses in order....TY Rebecca

For macro I have the Canon EF-S 60mm 1:1, I also use a 12mm extension tube at times
    For telephoto I have a Ef-S 55-250 zoom
and of course the kit lens which I seldom use.

I am in the market for a wide angle like
    14-24 or similar.

My camera is a Canon T3i, but I am wanting to upgrade some time soon.

It is just that I hate to part with a kidney also. :)

I like this photo of your grey frog. We have little, green apple colored, tree frogs here in Vancouver. Size of finished photo is so clear with high definition. Great capture, great subject.
Wonderful camera. You can only do as well as your tools, good on ya.
I can see why you won this contest/
