What an intriguing pose! I have never been this close to a frog's eye before---wonderful capture by you. His hand/paw/leg is almost comically placed. You chose exactly the right position for photographing this little creature, who makes me smile.

Thanks for the high rating and great review. I agree, the composition helped the image a lot. It is a composition not usually used with frogs, one eye instead of two. I think the closeup of the toes helped also.
thanks again!
Comment from Life is but a dream.
Images that are simple and strong always cause a pause. They are easy to review, pleasing even, and you have a bit of humour included with that one eye glaring at me, good eye catchment...ha.
No visual battle with colour hues, full of life in hues of green throughout the depths of your canvas. This handsome bloke is inviting us into his world through your lens. We feel a preciousness of life, a fragile life, a small life yet when we find it as you have it becomes the exclamation mark to our day.
The focal points are clear and easily seen, the foot details the details of eye...giving us enough information for us to process the rest of the photo in our gray matter, yet holding back to give this a mysterious whisper and permission to look. That thin slice of vertical format further accentuates the secret world of the frog.
Winner - doh - do frogs fart in the forest?

lol, I should have used this for -Break the Rules- contest. Who would have thought a one eyed, on legged frog would win a contest. Just goes to show that people like different or unique perspectives more than the samo samo.
Thanks for you in depth review. It always helps to see what other peeple saw in an image, at least those who take the time.
Olga, your the best. :)

This piece is incredibly unique. The texture of the skin pops out and makes a statement in this photograph. It may have been better if you were to photograph the whole frog or give a different perspective of it. But overall it is very interesting and it makes a statement! Good job!

Great capture of a chilling out fellow. He does seem to be hanging on for his own good reason. Love the cropping. Almost looks like a human hand. You did a great job .

This photo "jumped" right out at me. First the mostly-green tones unify the entire image. The composition, details and textures are great ---and you caught that great eye contact.

Congratulations on your win - well deserved. Excellent close up of this tree frog hanging on to the leaf of the lily. I like how you only show one eye looking at you. Lighting and focus very good showing excellent detail in his markings. Very good composition. Suzanne

Illusive Grey Tree Frog - color grey but is it a green? Perfect symmetry within framing. Third of frontal right foot to third of eye and face. Eye somewhat sad and "creepy" centered. Pupil focused with clarity and defined lines. Dark black center with vertical line flowing.
"I am gentle, says he...hear my call, it is filled with raucous sound." I'm off the tree hanging on. Hanging on to lime green rail - a rail of great width moving from left to right in lower third frame - wow a good hold I have. I will not drop - "love my suction cups" - though my expression shows I might. Colors of soft lime green in shades of light and darker green - speckled with brown/black dots of design - a wow, this creature I am - a wow, but some "fear" the "look" and "night time call." Notice the left edge, it's ruffled in dark colors brown. I am gentle, I feast on... the mosquito. Love me!
