I think these insects are wicked cool, but extremely dangerous.
My dog found one during a walk and he was curious so go up close.. they can emit a poisonous charge that temporarily blinded my dog for 48 hours. Had to have his cornea's checked and he was on eye drops for a week.
Glad it was behind glass. It is a nice shot but focus is a bit soft due to the glass.
You did capture his entire stick like body with nice details. I avoid them now, even to photograph as they can blind a human as well for a day or two.
Not sure if this one is the same, the ones I see here are brown and dangerous.

Wow I had no idea they are so dangerous, we have the brown leaf type ones also. Will have to do a bit more research and get the proper name next visit to zoo. Thanks so much and glad there was no permanent damage to your dog. :) Mary

An excellent shot. I like the way the insect is hanging upside down. The flow of the twig he is hanging onto and the curve of his body is fantastic. Great colors and excellent composition.

Thanks again, didn't get the name, normally photograph the sign to remember it but some school children were blocking sign. Will ensure I get it next time. :) Mary

I love these beasts and can't stop looking at them when I find them, they are so unreal. They are the exclamation marks in my day!

Good catch Mary, you certainly have him showing off his underside and for a stick insect he's pretty chubby.

Clean shot, crisp and easy to view. Well done.

Thanks Olga, they are fascinating and hard to see in natural environment. There were about 8 of them in the display and plenty of feed for them :) Mary
