Hi Rebecca, thanks once again for your congrats. Isn't it funny how we can all go through a long, dry spell on FAR and then win a contest and all is well again. As a group, maybe FAR members need to attend group therapy! :)
The settings were:
230 mm
f/6.3
ISO 800 (wind was blowing a bit, wanted to reduce blur)
1/800 shutter
center weighted
manual focus
AP priority
hand held
My camera maxes out at ISO 800 as far as acceptable noise level, but I try not to exceed 400 most of the time.
Thanks again for the kind words.

Thanks for the tech specs! And I think you should be the therapist for FAR members! I certainly have appreciated your wise words! Safe travels!

If I become the therapist for FAR, than the blind truly would be leading the blind! :)
Thanks for the tons and tons of support you give me. Greatly appreciated.

Ditto my friend. And Lol re: the blind... I think you are all seeing myself. ~R

Congratulations on your win. This is such a special picture, and the lighting is the reason for it's recognition. Simple, and beautiful.

Wow, I love this sort of thing. I really like back light. The detail could not be better. I hate it we people tell me this, but let me suggest you try to clone out the lower right and see if you like it. That way you can center the grass and make, I think, a more dramatic pic. Very nice indeed. Cheers, James.

Like the backlighting. Very good frame and focus to show the tiny details. A well composed and presented view on this plant.

This is a great capture of this foxtail with the natural lighting highlighting all the little 'hairs'.
The focus on the shot is very nice and sharp and the composition well laid out in the frame at a diagonal. I would, if this were mine clone out the one at the very bottom of the frame. I find my eye tends to wander down there taking it away from your focal point of the 2 in the center :)

But, but then it would look just like your winning image for the light contest. :)
Congrats on that nice image.

Gorgeous shot of the foxtail with great clarity to it. Simple subject yet interesting to view and pleasing to the eye. Justified by the right exposure and lighting. Great focus, nice angle, and well-composed, very well done job.
