your recognized status is well deserved. it's a beautiful flower and it becomes more attractive with the dark background. the petals look fresh with no signs of wilting. your centering is perfect and focus is sharp.
my brother's house burnt to the ground on friday. they lost everything and no insurance. actually 2 things were found in the rubble, a flower like this was untouched by the heat of the fire and an open bible with it's pages singed.

It's the flow of this image that I like a lot. The way you presented it is lovely with the blur of the background hibiscus adding support to the flower. That flower, is very well exposed and the details of the petals are , as you say, like silk. Sharp, great WB, and really great with a black background (dark background). I know someone will tell you it's too tight up top but it won't be me!

Excellent use of very different lighting! The blacked out background really helps the white flower "pop". The white are varied and the framing is perfect.

This is just gorgeous. I love the pure white color of the hibiscus and the orange stamen in the middle. The black background just makes the flower and the one next to it on the left pop!!!

All Hibiscus flowers are truly lovely, but I do have a soft spot for those in pure white, and this one is truly beautiful. The background is dark, and this is perfect for the white bloom to stand out in the most excellent way.
Tour photo is also nice and sharp showing really clear and well defined details both in the petals and the stamens, and also the exposure is very good.
You could have had a tad more negative space at the top, but apart from this I think the cropping works well, and the flower has a fine placement off to the right. A truly lovely and well taken shot, and with a very good DOF.
