The color enhancement is great for the subject. Your capture did bring out the beauty in this flower. The cropping did help get a closer view. And you made good use of the light.

I think the flower is still beautiful even at this stage, and I bet the cone is standing out even better. I especially like the green textured background, and how the yellow flower is standing out from it.
It is also sharp and well defined details both in the petals and the cone, and it is good light in this photo. The flower is indeed popping and has a great visual impact.
The tight cropping works really well, and the flower looks good in an almost centered position. It is a really lovely and well taken photo with a good edit, and I wish you luck with the contest.

This is a great close-up photograph of the cone flower. The intensity of color and the clarity of detail in the petals makes this a fun and exciting view. The bright muted green background really brings the golden yellows with the red highlights to your attention.
