'Freight hopping' is still a more common practice than one would think! ( It's less 'romanticized' and much less widely reported now and it's probably a lot more dangerous than it might have been eighty years ago though! )
But,all of that aside. I think this is a really good looking picture! : D
It's pleasingly unique and it's very enjoyable!
Good Show!

Yes It still happens today but was much more common in the early 20th century during the Great Depression . Men(primarily) riding the rails looking for work any where they could find it. I think here in The US we will see more of it as rail service is becoming more common now. And thank you for your kind review

My father in law and his brothers did this in their youth for tun. They all became successful deans of colleges or coaches, but we always think of those riders as hobos. Wonderful shot in sepia tones that totally suits the era. Perfect entry for the contest.

What a great composition. The sepia really works with this scene. I love the depth of field and the detail throughout. Having a sharp foreground really enhances the perspective. Thanks for sharing.

POV is what caught me! You must have got on on your belly. Focusing is good, I like the shadows adds to the feeling of history as does the color. DOF just took me down that track. Wonderful.

Thank you. I have a cannon camera with a screen that opens up and can be rotated to many different angles. First I manually focus on the point farthest from me and then I can lower the camera and rotate the screen so I can judge the composition of the scene. Then, I hope for the best :)

Your welcome. I'm technology challenged. I'm better off on my belly.

What a great composition. I love how you used the leading lines of the rails and wood foot path to draw your eye to the far distance. Nice use of the sepia tone, it makes you feel as though you travelled back in time. I can almost see a hobo or transient walking with belongs tied in a bandana tied to stick and slung over his shoulder. Nice job

This subject really lends itself to Sepia nd you have used it well.
Excellent initial impact with great composition. Those heavy trees to the left give great body to this work. Focus and detail are good, but for me the outsatnding feather is the depth !!
Great work, should be a front runner in contest - Ronnie

You did a nice job on this image, and with an appropriate title. Your leading lines and low POV give it a nice touch. The Sepia tone gives it that nostalgic look. It looks like quite a nice area...Good luck on the contest...Steve H.
