This is a great shot of this owl. You have done a fine job capturing the eye and the detail in the feathers. The night is their time so your black background is not only complimentary but significant to their habits. Congratulations on this capture and on being one of the candidates for the contest for the month. Good luck! ~B

Well I certainly GIVE a Flip n' HOOT! :)
Great capture Shadow;)
I like the dark background but I can see where you made adjustsments and cloned. The soft smudge blur on upper right of owl and up top on head.
Still I a hard GH five cause in love the pose and the one fully opened eye.
Nicely done!
See you in the morning! Ha! Breakfast! Yum!

I guess the wait for dark. I did see and hear every "black" bird, starlings, grackles, blackbirds, etc gather screaming in a tree and couldn't figure out what was going on until they chased out an owl and continued the chase until he was out of sight. I doubt that this kind of attention is something they look forward to. A very nice shot with an attractive dark look.

I really like your photo of a screech owl. Such great focus and texture of the wings. I tell you what he waits for. That little sound of a mouse so he can have his dinner. LOL

Your owl, gives a hoot, and I would give 6 hoots if I had them. Wonderful Photograph. An Owl is on my bucket list. sigh.... one day. :) Love the darkened background.
Focus is spot on. His eyes, at least his dominate one is great. His beak is wonderful. The colors, the texture, and detail of his feathers are outstanding.
Thank you for sharing.

A Screech Owl! The fabled Strix!
I've been told that they wait for the souls of the dying for some reason that no one seems quite sure of! ( I've heard the same thing in regards to Crows,NightJars, and other birds too! Who knows, right? )
But that's certainly an impressive and enjoyable photographic capture of a pleasingly interesting nocturnal raptor,Eileen!
Good Show,my friend!
