Such simple beauties are refreshing to set eyes upon. It's really fun to get these close up shots on the details of finery so small with the macro, that usually go unnoticed. I love the layered petals of this piece reaching out. The background is blended nicely with its hintings of green, really enhancing the yellow of this flower's center to stand out.

The only element this seems to be missing is that vibrance that jumps out at you. I'm not sure if it's the dulled hues faded in the background that need to come up a few tones to enhance the bright, freshness of the flower, or if the flower lacks some sharper detail. I think it is the backdrop, to be honest.

Despite, this is lovely to capture nature's many facets of beauty.

It's just such a happy picture. I enjoyed looking at it. Thank you for a wonderful experience. It's a very cute flower and reminds me of a picture you might see in a spare bedroom.

Beautifully Captured. I loved the little shadows the petals have cast. However the pollen itself which you have centered looks hazy. Probably it could be due to the compression to upload.

Caroline, that is a beautiful flower and you have imaged some of its essence in your good photograph. The extent of the sharpness you managed, however, leaves something to be desired and it appears to be overexposed, or perhaps you added too much brightness with your Kodak program. Good for a test run, however.
Peace,
Papa

Thanks Papa for your quick feedback. Thats right, I did put too much brightness into it. The original has grass in the background so I zoomed in to get this picture. I have a question: I am wanting to control the backlit effect. How do I do this. regards, Caroline

Caroline, first let me say that I liked the way you shot the flower straight on. That was great. Now, I'm no pro by any means, but I think it would be tough to control the back lighting shooting from that angel, but you might try reflecting light into the background, even with something like a sheet of foil wrap, which you could easily carry with you.You could play around with its positioning, making sure, of course, that it doesn't appear in the photograph. I have also, on ocassion, used things, like my hat, to block sun from the subject, or the background.
    Peace,
    Papa
