This is an amazing piece overall. I love how you acknowledged the little lines and shadows on in face and caught the appropriate shadows on the suit. A couple things I would consider would be trying to add more detail to the flag stripes. I think it attracts more of the eye when the whole picture looks alive and realistic rather than having a person standing against a background. Keep it up!

I did this only for the benefit for my dad. I did this while I sitting by his bedside the last2 weeks before he died. I pposted this only for praise of him and to put this in my portfolio. As.I said in the artist notes pencil is not my medium and use it only if I'm away from sharpie and bic pens. I do thank u for going down memory lane with me in honor of a great man. That ks for the review

Personally I think the head could have been just a little bit darker to stand out from the flag in the background.
Otherwise I think its amazing :)

Nah it was a sucky camera I was using. That is why I prefer using a scanner. My family now has the drawing over 1000 miles away. I'll get around to getting it scanned in the future.. Wink. Thanks for the great review

Very nice art. I find that important with pencil only sketching is to get the shadings just right and blending the strokes. If thee are too many hard lines, an image can quickly become too rigid. The flag is beautifully done, so is the face, with the curly hair, and the uniform. I like the way you got the insignia and medals just right. Therefore I give you 5-and-a-half stars.

I truly love your picture of your dad,my dad also was a ww2 boy,the fading of the drawing gives it the look of ww2 days, they were men of a different era and way, alot fo the men from that era had such movie star looks,i,e.audie Murphy, your dad has that look,Paul Newman type, his happy look you've portrayed is ex.in making him look up to mischief, his straight in the eye gaze is there,he's erect, strong, ruff and ready,I love this piece

I want to express my sympathy. This is a real good drawing. Love how you used light. The flag lets your eye follow it into the scene of the picture that isn't shown--at least that is what I get out of it. Saluting too!

A great work that expands your creative sphere. Great textures and tonal qualities. The gradation transitioning is superb and brings the point home with excellence. An extremely well done work . Thanks

You are right, "Once a Marine, always a Marine."
What a great hero and one to whom we owe so much honor and respect. You have done his image well. Nice work and congratulations on your talent and your father's legacy. My best to you and the family as you deal with your loss. Loyd

I like it very much, but why did you make the face and the flag so soft? Everything else is wonderful. Everything is good except that.
